Riding with Rocks

Damon Dash's luxury timepiece and jewelry brand Tiret New York has decided to try its luck at automotive design--- introducing its latest creation, the Tiret Sport Coupe. It was unveiled at watch expo Baselworld in Switzerland, the luxurious 2-door SUV is based on the Range Rover Sport [my car] and features real diamond accents derived from Tiret's opulent oversized, bejeweled timepieces by designer Daniel Lazar.

The luxury luxury jeep is available by special order at an undisclosed but undoubtedly astronomical price, the car is available with custom watch dial displays derived from Tiret's diamond timepieces, as well as an elegant central clock. A wide variety of color combinations including two-tone schemes is available inside and out in addition to Nappa leather seating and fine wood trim. Exterior modifications include wider flared arches, LED lighting, 22-inch LSE alloy wheels and a full panoramic glass sunroof.

I Remember

... my first pair of Fornarina jeans back in the day [Ok, probably like two years ago when I was in high school, lol]. Now Lindsay Lohan is in her first TV commercial as the new face of Italian brand Fornarina. I heart Fornarina because not alot of people seem to know about it -- so you are always the coolest dressed person in the room. Even though the price tags can get a little on the steep side, Fornarina seems to be moving forward despite the recession that seems to be plaguing all the other fashion companies.

Look at Lindsay's commercial below. By the way, I hate it --- her voice is annoying me.

The Unsung Hero

If you haven't heard about Colin Munroe, you're living under a rock. As native of Ottawa, Canada music isn't exactly what you would expect him to be doing. More like playing hockey or learning to survive in extremely cold temperatures. Yet he taught himself to play the drums and the piano, among other instruments. With his degree in cinema studies from the University of Toronto, he shot a video for his version of Kanye's flashing lights. Eventually, he caught the attention of Universal Motown and the rest is history. His mixtape The Unsung Hero was pretty much an album in disguise and earned him the recognition he deserves. In 2009, he is ready to release his debut album, Don't Think Less of Me.

Check out this interview he did with I'm Flashy and head over to his myspace to download the mixtape if you don't have it. Then keep your eyes peeled for the album!

"They're the first generation that grew up primarily on playlists. Radio hasn't been as important to this generation, so genres aren't as important. You've got people mixing & matching stuff and what they listen to naturally."

Room 252

The video for GLC feat. Kanye West, Big Screen. I liked the video concept of old school hollywood glamour, but I felt they could have done so much more. It was basically just people standing around. The clothes are amazing though. Very true to the times they were going for in concept. I also love the song, so there may be bias involved. Take a look below for yourself.

Got a Taste for E&J

You guys already know that I love me some Mary Kate and Ashley and I absolutely love their line Elizabeth & James.
I'm super excited that they are coming out with a jewelry line for E&J!
The line is a collaborative effort with Robert Lee Morris--- they have created minimalist pieces from brass, silver and wooden beads that incorporates subtle designs and shapes for a classic yet modern line.
Whether it's their multiple clothing lines ['Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen' for children, their women's high end line 'The Row' or their casual line 'Elizabeth & James'], their consistent attendance at fashion shows or their book, Influence, which gives praise to those in the fashion industry that have inspired them and others around the world;there's only one thing to know: these girls are pretty unstoppable!

Swagger on a Hundred Thousand Trillion

I've been on a real magazine kick lately. I've been continuously reading and being inspired by the depth of musicians and actors. Mr. West is no exception. Check out his cover for the Complex issue coming next month and read his interview. Very interesting.

I really think it’s because society tries to dictate the way a guy is supposed to dress and the way a guy is supposed to act, and I refuse to conform. A lot of these dudes would never be accused of being gay just because they all look exactly alike. If people could just realize the amount of mundaneness and followers that lack creativity…

Gone Baby Gone

Ben Affleck is an amazing guy. Not only is he gorgeous to look at, but he's extremely talented. A director, actor, and father. I feel like he's so much more than what we see on TV and in tabloids and he proved that in this interview from Esquire.

What's the most radical twist — or the most surprising thing about myself — is that none of the stuff you read, none of it has anything to do with me, with my life, my work. I'm a very straightforward, pretty boring guy. And that's just the fucking truth. I work harder now than I ever have in my life, because I got a family.

T.O to Meeeee!!!

I'm a girly girl but I love a little bit of sports every now and then. Wait, let me rephrase that, I don't like playing --- I just like watching [I'm not a fan of sweating on a field/court].
I go to college up in Buffalo and when I got here my freshman year was the first time I had ever heard about the Buffalo Bills.
Seriously[insert blank stare]. I really didn't even know that Buffalo had a football team. Not that I'm a football girl, but I love football players and I'm so excited that Terrell Owens is coming to town! I'll definitely attend a football game now.T.O just signed a one year deal worth $6.5 million dollars.I'm wildly excited for some weird reason. However, the only thing I request is that he doesn't talk. When discussing his upcoming move to the Buffalo Bills Owen said "I'm leaving America's team [for] North America's team."
Really T.O? Really?

Katy Perry in Esquire

I'm not really of fan of hers, but I loved her song 'Thinking of You' ever since I heard her album.
Plus, she looks great here!
I give credit where credit is due.

I have a soft spot for musicians. If a man could ride this roller coaster with me and come out alive, then I guess we'd deserve each other's company. But I don't really have the right energy to be with somebody right now, because when I love somebody, I love somebody. Like, I want to marry them. I don't date around. I haven't been on a date. - Katy Perry on relationships

RiRi Makes Everyone Newsworthy

It seems like everyone has a comment on the Rihanna/Chris Brown situation, especially celebrities. This past week, Tyra was on the Oprah show speaking on a domestic violence situation that she was in. I personally wouldn't call domestic abuse the same thing as domestic violence, since you're not actually getting hit, but I'm not worth millions. Check out the video below.

Also check out Oprah's personal message to RiRi the week before and the reactions of other celebrities.

Guess Again!

You thought it was just you?

Guess again--- even some of the pockets in that itty-bitty small percent of the richest folks have felt the strain of today's economy!

The number of millionaire households in the U.S. has shrunk to its lowest level since 2003 and the number of billionaires in the world has also seen a steep decline.

According to Forbes' newly-released annual list of the world's billionaires, there are now only 793 billionaires around the globe, down from 1,125 a year ago.

Daaaammmnn!!!

That means 332 people lost their billionaire status.

Smh. The games that life plays!

Elise Øverland

This was one of the shows I enjoyed at NYFW. Elise Øverland was born and raised in Norway. Being surrounded by mountains tends to cause one to be creative. With a BFA from Parsons School of Design, right here in NY, she went to work. Her edgy but functional pieces caught the eye of many musicians, who began commissioning her to design stage pieces. She has had a wide range of clients, from the Dixie Chicks to Alicia Keys.

Øverland claims this collection was inspired by a book on Japanese sushi. Don't know what I think about that one, so I'll let you guys decide.

Her collection had a lot of black pieces, but underneath were random pops of color including teal and purple, so boring it was not. All her pieces were well finished and structured to give a sleek, edgy look. She seemed to favor lamb skin quite a bit, but she worked it well, to the point where you have to take a good look to discern the material. Bravo!

Though there were many highlights, she didn't get it all right. Some outfits just looked awkward. The model with a short, flimsy dress and bulky looking jacket confused me. What kind of weather is that for? The outfit just didn't fit in with the overall sleekness of the show. Good try but better luck next time.
