I'm Attached to My Laptop

... Just give me a wireless router and I'm good to go.

So my friend and I were talking about our plans for success and discussing what we wanted to do with our futures. Nevertheless, I am also a Google addict. I google EVERYTHING-- dumb shit, scientifically proven shit, shit on TV, shit I'm reading about and shit that somebody I know thinks they know but I want to prove them wrong [did you catch that?].

So naturally, he's talking about his ish, I'm talking about mine and I decide to Google "how to be a mogul" and I actually found an article on how to be a mogul!

Step1-Decide on your area of mogul-ship. If you own a fleet of ships or a worldwide telecommunications business, you are already off to a good start. If not, it's time to get a move on. Immediately take over a small business or country.

Step2-Get the word out. Proclaim yourself to be a mogul at every given opportunity. Go on lots of talk shows. Start random fights with heiresses or daytime TVhosts. Remember any press is good press when establishing your "moguliciousness."

Step3-Expand and multiply. To be a successful mogul, you do not necessarily need to be the best at what you do, only the biggest. Develop a brand name and slap it on everything you can – bottled water, cat food, online dating services, cheese, you name it.

Step4-Eliminate all competition. It's not enough to simply be the best and biggest in your chosen field of expertise, you must also ensure that no one else even thinks of doing the same thing. Start practicing corporate takeovers, or coups, as the case may be.

Step5-Develop a snazzy look. Do you think Donald Trump or Fidel Castro would have gotten where they are today without a sense of style? Weigh the pros and cons of a comb-over, or reviving the trucker hat.

Mr Fashion.No Compassion

Karl Lagerfeld must be the bluntest man alive. Some of his quotes just leave me like "Oh, Sh!+". There's seriously nothing else you can say except for "Oh, Sh!+".

Here are a few things that he has said recently that have left me [and everyone else who read them] flabbergasted.

In an interview with the Telegraph[UK], Karl Lagerfeld defended the fur industry saying it is justified because the "beasts" [fur comes from would] kill us if they could." .::blank stare::.

In an interview with Radio 4 Today [UK], Karl also dismisses the issue of size zero models, saying that they were insignificant compared to the 'zillions' of fat people! .:: hahaha, true!::.
On fat people: "In France there are a large percentage of young girls who are overweight and less than one percent are skinny. So let's talk about the 25 percent who have a weight problem, or are overweight. We don't need to discuss the less than one percent. Anorexia is nothing to do with fashion. These Russian girls are so young. Chinese ones are skinny, too, and bony. I don't think it's a subject to discuss. And in today's world, many people take drugs, not only models, hmm? It's an unnecessary subject. Let's talk about the fat ones."

On children: "I hate all children. For other people, it's fine, but not for me. I was born not to be a family person."

On other sh!+: "I am not a traveler. I hate it. I never look at my watch. The good thing about private jets is that you go whenever you're ready. That's the real luxury of today. In all my contracts it says, if you want me, send a private jet."

"Also I cannot go on airlines because people stare at me, you have to be touched by people. I hate that...I hate bespoke because I hate to be touched by strangers. It bores me to death."

"What I hate most in life are people who are not really the peach of the day but who want to be young and sexy. You can fool nobody. There is a moment when you have to accept that somebody else is younger and fresher and hotter. Life is not a beauty contest.”

"I don't want to have a social life. I've had enough of that in my life."

"I try to avoid charity."

"I cannot go on airlines because people stare at me, you have to be touched by people. I hate that...I hate bespoke because I hate to be touched by strangers. It bores me to death."

No compassion at all!
That's good ol' Lagerfeld for ya!

Retarded.

Everyone spent less this year. Everyone. Banks went bankrupt, People went bankrupt, Companies went bankrupt. People lost jobs and pinched pennies. Black Friday wasn't as successful as in the years prior. The wealthy experienced "luxury shame". Obama was named President [ I just felt like including that, lol]. Designers are pulling out of fashion week fashion shows to hold less expensive private viewings. The term "recessionista" was coined. The Legendary fashion house of Bill Blass shut down! And it's just a proven fact that people are not spending money on unnecessary items.

Yet retarded ass Mischa Barton has a new handbag/accessory line and wants people to buy it. Is she retarded? No, seriously. She clearly hasn't been watching the news? But most importantly ... she is still stuck on Boho, who's still on that?

Got 99 Problems...

& a hotel is one!
I personally was looking forward to the opening of Jay-Z's line of five- star, luxury hotels. The very first J Hotel was going to be erected at 510 W 22 street in Manhattan and trust me I was already planning on being one of the first few people to stay there. However, the developer Charles Blaichman cannot secure financing for the hotel. Damn! Times are hard for everybody!

Although this is a bump in the road... the entire J Hotel project is not out the window as of yet --- just postponed.
Jigga doesn't not play with his money flow!

Mini's First Time

It takes alot for me to watch Lifetime. All of their movies seem to be based on some woman being a victim or some foolish relationship saga and etc. All except for one. Mini's First Time. Originally screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in May 2006, this captivating movie usually comes on Lifetime once in a blue moon and I love it!
Mini is played by actress Nikki Reed. She is a daring teenager who enjoys unique experiences which she calls "firsts". For excitement, and to add to her list of firsts, Mini decides to give being an escort a try. This little "first" proves to be more exciting than she bargained for. As she goes to the hotel room to meet her client she realizes it's her stepfather Martin, played by actor Alec Baldwin. Martin is initially shocked when he finds out that she was his mysterious escort, but soon a forbidden, torrid affair blossoms between the two.

Check your local listings or go rent the DVD in order to see how it ends up. Trust me it's soooo worth it!

Happy New Year!

So in a couple of hours it will officially be the year 2009. Everywhere around the world, people will be celebrating by partying and drinking it up. Don't Drink & Drive!

Whether you decide to bring in the New Year by going to church [amen!], watching the ball drop, going to the club [with anywhere from a $5 - $250 entrance fee], simply just getting sauced, going to a family & friends get together or just staying your lame ass home. Just remember to be grateful for seeing another year. I'm not even going to share my New Years resolutions, 'cause Lord knows my track record with those! But I'm just determined to make 2009 my year of greatness and you all should as well!

Some rules of thumb?

  • Keep God first. Have faith and everything will fall into place.

  • Find your passion; don't float through life aimlessly.

  • Don't hate on others... smh

  • Live your life.

Captured! --- Henri Bendel

The day after Christmas, just like the day after Thanksgiving is when the world is out buying everything in sight. I was up and dressed and made my way to Fifth Ave in record time, lol. I just had to share one of my fave places with you all. Known for its signature brown & white striped shopping bags and an extensive matching line of cosmetics bags. Henri Bendel has been dubbed "a girl's playground" and regularly features "Girls Night Out" special shopping evenings for charity. Although this is a four-story luxury department store, it still exudes the atmosphere of an exclusive boutique. Founded by its namesake in 1895, Bendel attracted clients by importing designer wares and reportedly staging New York City's first-ever fashion show. I'm a fan of brown & white. Give them a try!

New York, NY: 712 Fifth Avenue near 56th street
Columbus, OH: Easton Town Center
Boca Raton, FL: Boca Town Center
San Diego, CA: Fashion Valley
Aventura, FL: Aventura Mall

That isn't the question but the name of Bebe's concept store located in Daly City, CA.

This concept store named 2b targets young sophisticates from 15 to 25 who aspire to shop at Bebe. Prices are 20 percent to 50 percent lower than Bebe.

Reccession= Depression

As a New Yorker, there is nothing I love more than Mercedes Benz fashion week. Everyone who is anyone is in town [although I'm up at school... boooooo!], the parties are fabulous, the style on the street is impeccable and my favorite ... everything around 42nd street & Broadway are effn crowded to rass! =[

However this upcoming fashion week may not be as heavy -- or hot[ it's Feb] as we're used to. WWD has reported that DKNY, Vera Wang, Carmen Marc Valvo and Betsey Johnson have decided to do private viewings of their collections instead of putting on a costly runway show. J. Mendel, Monique Lhuillier and Reem Acra are also considering other options for February.

Bummer.

Some Like it Hot... Some Like it Skulled

Designer Christian Audigier[the designer behind Ed Hardy] has partnered with Lamborghini to create a “special” version of the Lamborghini MurciĆ©lago LP640. Pirates and skulls aren't the first thing that come to mind when you think of a lamborghini, however, somewhere around the world five lucky people will have the opportunity to own and tailor this one-of-a-kind car.

Arianna Is FIERCE!

This youtube video is HILARIOUS! Now tell me this is not better than the original. Lies! And you know it. If I have a little girl, this is what I want her to be like.

On another Beyonce sidenote, is anyone else scared for Jay-Z after watching the Obsessed trailer? I can already picture her on the news with that crazed look and one of Jay-Z's gold records in hand. Ooh no. . .

Wild Child

Brooklyn-based label Feral Childe has been on my radar for a long time, but it seems everyone needs to catch up. Creators Alice Wu and Moriah Carlson met at a random day job and were friends ever since. They spent their free time sending each other ideas and drawings, which grew into full outfits. When people began stopping them on the street, they figured this could work. And it has. Their pieces are elegant and well made. Stop by one of the many shops their products are sold at and take a look.

She's Smurfy!

I was waiting for this collection to drop only to find, it's out already! I've really been hitting the books too long. . .

Anyways, I've been waiting and the new Smurfy Too Faced collection has been released by Sephora. It features the lovely Smurfette, the one & only female Smurf that every male smurf finds attractive. The collection contains a face powder, eye shadow quad, lip gloss, and liquid eyeliners. Why a collection to her?

Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino was inspired to create the line after waking up at 2 a.m. wondering, “What the hell happened to Smurfette?” He decided that she was in the hills around Los Angeles “hiding from paparazzi,” he says. “She is the most Too Faced cartoon character ever created,” he enthuses. [WWD]

The So Smurfy Eyeshadow quad ($32.50) features four colors: pink, taupe, blue, and a golden brown. The blue has a picture of Smurfette in the shadow, while the pink features a flower, because we know how she loves those.

The So Smurfy Illumination Face Powder ($26) features illumination that is sheer, but that's expected of a product used for highlighting. Especially like Smurfette's portrait in the powder.

The Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lipgloss ($18.50) didn't really work for me, but it might be because your body temperature can't be anything BUT cold right now in NY. Even in the store, I was freezing to death. Smh. It's suppose to change into different shades of pink depending on your body temperature. It reminds me of those mood rings from 4th grade that your mom said would turn your fingers green.

The Smurfy-Eyed Liquid Eyeliner ($17.50) comes in two colors: Feelin' Smurfy [Opal] and Smurf You (blue). The blue is more vivid than I expected, but that's a good thing. The opal showed on me, but it depends on your skin tone. If you're fair, I'd say go for the blue, the opal barely shows up. Overall, nothing too exciting and way too much glitter for me.

Go to your local Sephora and find out what you think yourself. If nothing else, it brings back childhood memories.

Bummer!

WWD reports "For Russian teenage design phenom Kira Plastinina, it looks like a quick rise and fall in theAmerica. American sources close to the company said many, if not all, of the 12 Kira Plastinina stores in America could close soon. Difficulties were pegged to the declining fortunes of Plastinina’s father, Sergei Plastinin, a tycoon in the dairy and fruit business in Russia, who bankrolled the U.S. rollout and was heavily invested in the Russian stock market. Shortcomings in how the chain was operated and the impact of the recession in the U.S. were also cited.

The launch of Kira's store started off with a big bang. She had fashion shows attended by Hollywood socialites and A-listers. I expected lots of success, especially since her clothes are affordable and uber cute.

Check out her site below.

Don't Do Drugs!

Here at HO$TAGE we have a weakness for Topshop.
We were excited when the Topshop in Soho was slated to open and now Kate Moss’ collection for Topshop is set to keep on rolling.
Remember when she was a crackhead and no one wanted to touch her? Wow, times have changed.
The retailer said Wednesday the model has signed a new contract to continue designing the Kate Moss for Topshop collection, after producing eight seasonal lines since Moss teamed up with Topshop in late 2006.

Holy. Club... of Fashion?

Roberto Cavalli has opened a club chose which was unveiled Saturday with an A-list party. The club was made in a 15th-century deconsecrated church in Florence ... much like Club Avalon in NYC.
However, Roberto's Florence club is only the first step for the designer. He plans to open one in Dubai at the end of January, and in Milan in February. In Dubai, the designer will sell Cavalli Club merchandise — from lamps and cutlery, to china and glassware. In an interview at his sprawling apartment in Milan, Cavalli said the project is a prelude to his return to a namesake home collection.
