OMG... They Got Ya Outfit On!!!

Hey people!!! For those of you who are still in NYC (unfortunately I'm not), I've compiled a list of stores and boutiques where you can get some great unique clothes and shoes. I'm going to do a list for all of us Buffalo people as well because shopping at the Walden-Galleria Mall is NOT CUTTING IT!!! The main reason why I compiled this list is because it's no fun going somewhere and seeing somebody wearing the same thing that you are. However, that's never happened to me =].
In my wardrobe I stick with brands such as Gentle Fawn, SoundGirl, 80%20, Seychelles, and so on (can't tell you all my secrets), I might even throw in a little bit of Guess,Abercrombie and Roxy or whatever I see that looks cute.
These stores will defintely make you stand out and look like the fabulous fashion- forward creature that you are! Have fun!

Uniqlo-- in my opinion they are similar to H&M, but we know that EVERYONE in the city shops at H&M. However at Uniqlo, a 22-year-old Japanese chain, you can get that infamous Japanese style without the heavy ass prices to go with it. In fact, jeans, a sweater, and jacket might NOT even set you back 200 bucks at Uniqlo. Check them out:546 Broadway New York, NY 10012
http://www.uniqlo.com/

Training Camp-- this store is awesome because the sneakers are cheap. At first I wanted to know what was wrong with the shoes but the owner is the designer so he doesn't have to do the whole buying from another company and blah blah blah that goes into the other stores that don't sell their own brands. Not only do they have a location in SoHo but they are also in Brooklyn. I've never been to the one in SoHo... not really trying to go out my way when I can go down the block, but they sell brands like Evisu, Penguin, ALIFE, Y-3's, Supras, DC's, Reeboks as well as Nikes and etc. THIS STORE IS AWWWWESSSSSOOOOMMMEEEE!!! The SoHo location is :1079 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 212-921-4430 and the Brooklyn location is:1498 Rockaway Parkway (down the block from the L train)

Alife Rivington Club-- Alife's are POPPING, if you're not on it then get on QUICKLY!!! They also sell other brands at this store as well. Give them a look see:158 Rivington StreetNew York, NY 212-375-8128

The PaperDoll Boutique-- this store is the cutest thing ever and it's owned by a 19-year old girl. My friend put me on to this store after seeing a fashion show held there. Ladies, you will love it!!! I'll definitely try to get an interview from the owner in the near future! 104 Bond Street Brooklyn, NY 718-237-2236
Brooklyn Circus- this store epitomizes coolness. Check it out:Brooklyn Circus258 Bergen StreetBet. Nevins and 3rd ave.Brooklyn, NY

Chanel Couture Show Spring/Summer 2008

It's European Fashion Week and the Chanel Couture show was held at the Grand Palais in Paris on Tuesday. The stage was set with a 66 foot high classic Chanel blazer through which the models entered and exited the moving circular runway. It seems like Karl's inspiration for this collection was "artic". There were a few classic pieces in the collection, but the main attractions were the gowns and party dresses. Take a look at the entire collection : http://chanel.com/fashion/en-us/index.php?fullscreen=1&goto=1,0&x=0&y=89&width=1259&height=654

Pharrell is at it AGAIN!

Pharrell Williams has worked with almost all of the big shots in the music industry, has his own line of clothing and has worked with Louis Vuitton to create the Millionaire sunglasses line. You didn't necessarily have to be a millionaire to buy them but it probably wouldn't hurt. Louis Vuitton collaborated with the talented Pharrell Williams and Bathing Ape designer Nigo to create a new line of sunglasses.
Now Pharrell has made a new jewelry line for the fashion label. Fashion director of L.V, Marc Jacobs arranged to have Pharrell work with jewelry designer Camille Miceli for the collection. Look at these pics, courtesy of the Kanye West blog; if these pics don't make you want to go hold up the Louis V store on 5th Ave then I don't know what will. The rings are sooo creative!!!

Porsche + Nike= WOW!

When we hear the word "porsche", everyone thinks of cars that are fast and flashy. Well soon mainstream America will also think of sneakers! YUP, the German sneaker shop Purchaze have created Nike Air Max Lights based on the design of the Porsche GT3 RS. Sneaker collectors: I now give you my permission to go crazy with excitement. For all you car fiends who might not be able to purchase an actual porsche right now, you can still have a piece of that famous brand near you; the Porsche logo is even on the tongue. This car is being produced in four colors (silver, black, green and orange) so it was only right to make these the only color choices available in the sneakers Purchaze and Leyp have created in collaboration with Porsche. Just be ready to dish out some major money!

Soulja Boy Ft. Arab- Yaah Music Video

[ ... ]

Soulja Boy!

Okay people,I don't know how many of you have seen Soulja Boy's new videos. One is entitled "Yaah" and the other is entitled" Lemme Get 'Em". Both songs, just like his other two are foolish and make a normal person wonder what the hell the music industry has come to. Despite what I might think, Soulja Boy is successful. If you can have a 40-year old surburban mother do your dance on Ellen then you are 'popping' no matter what anyone tells you.

But what messages are these foolish ass songs sending? Sorry, I can't talk about him without getting upset. The 'Lemme Get'Em' is about shooting people and in the beginning there is a disclaimer saying that it is just a dance and no violence should occur on account of it. Are you serious????At the end of his "Yaah" video he shows a report card full of failing grades and then tells his teacher to put some D's on it. SINCE WHEN IS A 'D' a good grade? Ha, I'm not even going to lie, I got a D in my history class... but come on now people! He is singing about getting D's and then has a disclaimer at the end telling kids that he was only playing and to get straight A's in school and begins to make some dumbass faces into the camera!!!! OMIGOSH, he looks like an adorable little boy, but come on!

Everyone who has cable knows that the end of the video will defintely get cut off and then these poor little children who are stuck in front of the television instead of doing their damn homework will begin to strive for D's.
I'm out of breath and I give up. I don't know what the world is coming to.

AND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THOSE HIDEOUS ASS GLASSES WITH WHITE -OUT ON THEM!?!?!?! WTF!!!!!

Go read a book people and if you see a child under 15 watching his dumbass video turn it off and tell them that he is a fool.

BYE!!!

The Beginning!

Hi Everyone!!!

QUICK INTRO: My name is Jenelle. I am a teen born and raised in NYC and currently go to school in Buffalo, NY. The main reason i started this blog was to see, after months of contemplating, if a career in journalism is the perfect match for me.
The wondering began in late October, the assurance began after becoming an intern at Ann Taylor Corporation over winter break. As a graduate of the High School of Fashion Industries in NYC, I am positive that my future career must be in the fashion industry. So when I was given the opportunity to intern at Ann Taylor I was excited and grateful. When my first day of work came everything went smoothly but the atmosphere was too quiet for my liking. Everyone who knows me can vouch that I need some noise and excitement in my life to make me a happy person. Not only that, but the cubicles and monotonomy of the place was driving me crazy. Day after day of filing, running to showrooms and sitting in my cubicle sorting through fabric made me question myself. "Is this what I wanted to do????" "Is THIS it?" I kept wondering about if I never had that experience and spent four years of college education to sit behind a cubicle how unhappy and depressed I would've been. I'm not even going to lie, I was soooooo miserable because this 'fab job' didn't turn out to be what I thought it would be. I was so happy that I got to experience the internship so that I wouldn't continue going down the wrong path.
"IS THIS IT???"
"IS THIS REALLY IT???"
I couldn't help but repeat those questions in my head as I continued working.
Then one day after checking my e-mail and receiving a message about a panel meeting for Teen Vogue It Girls, I had an epiphany. MAGAZINES!!! Those close to me know that I am passionate about reading all sorts of things and they also know that I am infatuated with magazines. It's something about the glossy pages and the beautiful pictures that make me so happy. I mean truly, truly happy; the adrenaline rush from picking up a magazine with a striking cover story is like totally out of this world and the articles and advice are just icing on the cake. My magazine subscriptions are endless, they are in prime condition and I NEVER EVER rip a page out of one of MY magazines.... I use someone else's =]. After rereading this I can say that I am a magazine junkie and I am not ashamed.. lol.
The bright light (yes, I'm a bit of a drama queen) showed me that I can mix both of my passions and find the ideal job for me; fashion +magazines... I wondered why I hadn't thought about this before. As I continued to share my epiphany with anyone who would listen, I was advised to begin a fashion blog in order to exercise my writing abilities. Right now I'm really excited about the endless opportunities that this can bring so stay tuned on my road of letters and sentences. I'm sure you'll enjoy! =]
