Happy New Year!

So in a couple of hours it will officially be the year 2009. Everywhere around the world, people will be celebrating by partying and drinking it up. Don't Drink & Drive!

Whether you decide to bring in the New Year by going to church [amen!], watching the ball drop, going to the club [with anywhere from a $5 - $250 entrance fee], simply just getting sauced, going to a family & friends get together or just staying your lame ass home. Just remember to be grateful for seeing another year. I'm not even going to share my New Years resolutions, 'cause Lord knows my track record with those! But I'm just determined to make 2009 my year of greatness and you all should as well!

Some rules of thumb?

  • Keep God first. Have faith and everything will fall into place.

  • Find your passion; don't float through life aimlessly.

  • Don't hate on others... smh

  • Live your life.

Captured! --- Henri Bendel

The day after Christmas, just like the day after Thanksgiving is when the world is out buying everything in sight. I was up and dressed and made my way to Fifth Ave in record time, lol. I just had to share one of my fave places with you all. Known for its signature brown & white striped shopping bags and an extensive matching line of cosmetics bags. Henri Bendel has been dubbed "a girl's playground" and regularly features "Girls Night Out" special shopping evenings for charity. Although this is a four-story luxury department store, it still exudes the atmosphere of an exclusive boutique. Founded by its namesake in 1895, Bendel attracted clients by importing designer wares and reportedly staging New York City's first-ever fashion show. I'm a fan of brown & white. Give them a try!

New York, NY: 712 Fifth Avenue near 56th street

That isn't the question but the name of Bebe's concept store located in Daly City, CA.

This concept store named 2b targets young sophisticates from 15 to 25 who aspire to shop at Bebe. Prices are 20 percent to 50 percent lower than Bebe.

Reccession= Depression

As a New Yorker, there is nothing I love more than Mercedes Benz fashion week. Everyone who is anyone is in town [although I'm up at school... boooooo!], the parties are fabulous, the style on the street is impeccable and my favorite ... everything around 42nd street & Broadway are effn crowded to rass! =[

However this upcoming fashion week may not be as heavy -- or hot[ it's Feb] as we're used to. WWD has reported that DKNY, Vera Wang, Carmen Marc Valvo and Betsey Johnson have decided to do private viewings of their collections instead of putting on a costly runway show. J. Mendel, Monique Lhuillier and Reem Acra are also considering other options for February.

Bummer.

Designer Christian Audigier[the designer behind Ed Hardy] has partnered with Lamborghini to create a “special” version of the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640. Pirates and skulls aren't the first thing that come to mind when you think of a lamborghini, however, somewhere around the world five lucky people will have the opportunity to own and tailor this one-of-a-kind car.

Arianna Is FIERCE!

This youtube video is HILARIOUS! Now tell me this is not better than the original. Lies! And you know it. If I have a little girl, this is what I want her to be like.

On another Beyonce sidenote, is anyone else scared for Jay-Z after watching the Obsessed trailer? I can already picture her on the news with that crazed look and one of Jay-Z's gold records in hand. Ooh no. . .

Wild Child

Brooklyn-based label Feral Childe has been on my radar for a long time, but it seems everyone needs to catch up. Creators Alice Wu and Moriah Carlson met at a random day job and were friends ever since. They spent their free time sending each other ideas and drawings, which grew into full outfits. When people began stopping them on the street, they figured this could work. And it has. Their pieces are elegant and well made. Stop by one of the many shops their products are sold at and take a look.

She's Smurfy!

I was waiting for this collection to drop only to find, it's out already! I've really been hitting the books too long. . .

Anyways, I've been waiting and the new Smurfy Too Faced collection has been released by Sephora. It features the lovely Smurfette, the one & only female Smurf that every male smurf finds attractive. The collection contains a face powder, eye shadow quad, lip gloss, and liquid eyeliners. Why a collection to her?

Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino was inspired to create the line after waking up at 2 a.m. wondering, “What the hell happened to Smurfette?” He decided that she was in the hills around Los Angeles “hiding from paparazzi,” he says. “She is the most Too Faced cartoon character ever created,” he enthuses. [WWD]

The So Smurfy Eyeshadow quad ($32.50) features four colors: pink, taupe, blue, and a golden brown. The blue has a picture of Smurfette in the shadow, while the pink features a flower, because we know how she loves those.

The So Smurfy Illumination Face Powder ($26) features illumination that is sheer, but that's expected of a product used for highlighting. Especially like Smurfette's portrait in the powder.

The Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lipgloss ($18.50) didn't really work for me, but it might be because your body temperature can't be anything BUT cold right now in NY. Even in the store, I was freezing to death. Smh. It's suppose to change into different shades of pink depending on your body temperature. It reminds me of those mood rings from 4th grade that your mom said would turn your fingers green.

The Smurfy-Eyed Liquid Eyeliner ($17.50) comes in two colors: Feelin' Smurfy [Opal] and Smurf You (blue). The blue is more vivid than I expected, but that's a good thing. The opal showed on me, but it depends on your skin tone. If you're fair, I'd say go for the blue, the opal barely shows up. Overall, nothing too exciting and way too much glitter for me.

Go to your local Sephora and find out what you think yourself. If nothing else, it brings back childhood memories.

Bummer!

WWD reports "For Russian teenage design phenom Kira Plastinina, it looks like a quick rise and fall in theAmerica. American sources close to the company said many, if not all, of the 12 Kira Plastinina stores in America could close soon. Difficulties were pegged to the declining fortunes of Plastinina’s father, Sergei Plastinin, a tycoon in the dairy and fruit business in Russia, who bankrolled the U.S. rollout and was heavily invested in the Russian stock market. Shortcomings in how the chain was operated and the impact of the recession in the U.S. were also cited.

The launch of Kira's store started off with a big bang. She had fashion shows attended by Hollywood socialites and A-listers. I expected lots of success, especially since her clothes are affordable and uber cute.

The retailer said Wednesday the model has signed a new contract to continue designing the Kate Moss for Topshop collection, after producing eight seasonal lines since Moss teamed up with Topshop in late 2006.

Holy. Club... of Fashion?

Roberto Cavalli has opened a club chose which was unveiled Saturday with an A-list party. The club was made in a 15th-century deconsecrated church in Florence ... much like Club Avalon in NYC.
However, Roberto's Florence club is only the first step for the designer. He plans to open one in Dubai at the end of January, and in Milan in February. In Dubai, the designer will sell Cavalli Club merchandise — from lamps and cutlery, to china and glassware. In an interview at his sprawling apartment in Milan, Cavalli said the project is a prelude to his return to a namesake home collection.

Crazy Hoes

I just happened to be flipping through the channels and landed on VH1 Soul. I was greeted with Jazmine Sullivan's music video for "Bust Your Windows". This definitely wasn't my first time seeing it. But it was definitely my first time actually questioning her behavior.
She messed up his car, destroyed his paintings & watches, wasted all of his liquor, damaged his record collection all because he cheated on her?

I began to wonder if I could ever imagine myself doing something like that. I personally don't have the energy to exert on things that I don't find worth of my time. However, I do have some girlfriends who disagree and I've come to the realization that I know some crazy hoes.

Example 1: The girls and I were driving to the mall and "Friend A" wanted to drive past her ex-boyfriend's house to do something to his car. I looked at this heffa and started dying laughing.
1. She had a new boyfriend that she had been going out with for like a year and change.
2. If she had been in a relationship with her boyfriend for that long, why did her ex-boyfriend matter anymore.
3.She was clearly just looking for something to do.
4.She is a crazy hoe.

Example 2: A boy that "Friend B" was talking to was began being evasive out of nowhere. She wanted to know what the deal was so we randomly went to his house [I had nothing better to do] to see what the foolery was about.
1. He wasn't there... so we walked into the house anyway and went into his bedroom (the door was open, lol).
2. She called his cell and waited around some more (while I made myself at home in his kitchen and the other girls played look out).
3. He didn't respond and we got tired of waiting so she took his laptop back to our campus so he would have to call her.
4. She is a crazy hoe.

Example 3: "Friend B" also did some foolishness to another boy who was messing up her flow. Which was funny since he had a girlfriend anyway... but I guess it was one of those "If I can't have you, no one can" things. So she ended up writing a letter to his girlfriend.
1. She made a fake facebook profile.
2. Sent a private message to his girlfriend.
3. He found out, got angry, talked shit.
4. He beasts to be in "Friend B's" presence, whereas she could care less.
5. She's still a crazy hoe.

Now that I think of it,being in a relationship with a female is something that males should be worried about. The potential for acts of craziness is very real.
Act right or else something may definitely occur.
Look at these simple examples from my girls.... if they are this crazy at 19, then imagine the potential for growth in their crazy ass behavior.

That being said have any of you been victim to or unleashed any crazy ass behavior?

Screaming Captives: Upcoming Musicians:: Kid Cudi

Check out the video for Kid Cudi's song Day & Night[crookers remix].

Born and raised in Cleveland, Scott Mescudi's career took off after he moved to Brooklyn [home of the greatest] and became affiliated with Fool's Gold, the label of DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs. Kid Cudi's debut single, "Day 'n' Nite," became an online favorite in 2008.

360 Adams St. ... smh

I spent my day doing jury duty. Oy vey! These people definitely know how to waste someone's day. Mi madre told me what to expect [lots of nothing and even more sitting] so I brought some things to keep me up but I ended up knocking out in the corner. LOL. Oh well! Anyway, I was finally dismissed after 3 but I was annoyed because then that meant all these little children would be out of school and in my damn way. I swear that ever since I graduated high school being around anyone not in college or of college age annoys the ish out of me. Which brings me to my ride home on the train. I leave the court house and go into the Borough Hall train station to take the 2 train [idk why I'm using specifics... but whatever = )] So, I'm on the train and I see this JHS age clique coming on at like Bergen. Ha! They were surprisingly quiet 'cept the occassional burst of juvenile laughter [insert rollage of eyes lol], but the thing that had me laughing the most [to myself of course, although there have been times where I messed up and laughed out loud ... smh] was this chick who had almost no hair and she kept running her hand through her hair like there was something there. We locked eyes real quick and I threw her a little look of pity... i couldn't help it . I can't stand when girls do that.
Does anyone else have a story of a 'picky-haired' girl?

Even before I heard the song "L.A. Girls" on The Hills [yes, I indulge from time to time] I liked Jupiter Rising. My all time favorite song is "Electropop".This band consists of the duo of Spencer Nezey and Jessie Payo. They give a different vibe to pop music; everything is catchy as hell.

" My name is jenelle.stasha and I am a blaster" LOL.

This LA group has definitely been on the rise lately because of their song play on MTV [once you hook the kiddies, you're set for life!]. Find out more about them here!

New Uniform

So, just about everyone has a clothing line nowadays and that includes Microsoft!
Yup, Microsoft --- the company best known for Windows and Microsoft Office--- has a clothing line. Microsoft and Common have joined forces to create the retro-styled uber-hipster clothing line, "Softwear by Microsoft" which is expected to hit select stores on Dec. 15

Microsoft says it's a "clothing line that taps the nostalgia of when PCs were just starting to change our lives," and that it aims to "showcase the DOS days of the software company that now connects over a billion people."
What's next for this software giant?
No.
Seriously... what's next?
Linens? Perfume?
Despite all the sarcasm, the shirts look cool.

Arab Money 101

Just like Busta Rhymes insinuates in his video; some Arabs [pronounced ah-rab not aay-rab..that's disrespectful]are actually very wealthy people. Places like Saudi Arabia, Qatar [the richest Middle Eastern country] and Dubai are uber wealthy and have recently become hot vacation spots for the wealthy... but not all of the Middle East is rich [i.e Baghdad & Afghanistan -- which have become war ridden countries].

Arab Money... what does that really entail? Well, they all don't actually attain their wealth through oil despite what Busta says. Majority of them have lots of overseas investments, dabble in banking and media as well as real estate. Names like Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud,Maan Al-Sanea,Yitzhak Tshuva and Shari Arison[the wealthiest Middle-Eastern female] are just a few big-time ballers.

Hmph.. and although the song is filled with ridiculous racist comments. I guess it sounded better than saying " We getting White Man money".
[i.e. Warren Buffet is still the richest man in the WORLD, worth $60 bil ... Bill Gates is ranked number 3, worth $58 bil]

Sasha Not So Fierce

I thought I was the only one not swallowing this Sasha Fierce bull that Beyoncé is selling. Especially when she is making the same kind of music. Looks like a money scheme to me and apparently to other people as well. Hadley Freeman, a writer for the UK Guardian, had a lot to say. Go read the full article here. Read key paragraphs below.

"Beyoncé says she always secretly referred to her onstage persona as Sasha Fierce, because when she is onstage, "the tone of my voice gets different, and I'm fearless. I'm just a different person." Moving swiftly past the retort, "Yes, of course your voice gets different, love: it's because you're singing to 10,000 people as opposed to just asking your husband to pass the milk across the breakfast table," this is apparently the motivation behind her much-vaunted new look.

But the sartorial expression of this heretofore hidden persona looks a little less original than Beyoncé/Sasha (hereafter known as BS) suggests. Instead, it adheres to the pop-star style makeover formula, which can be summed up as follows: wear some hot pants, borrow some "edgy" designer's clothes, dress as a robot."

LOL. My thoughts? She always had the hot pants, so that can't count. The clothes are an upgrade from what Tina was putting her onstage wearing. They completely have me on the robot though. I concur wholeheartedly. But Mona does not. Forward it to 7:06. You'll die.

NY Makes TomKat Work

Dear NY Times,

I had no idea this existed in the T Style Holiday 2008 Magazine. You guys clearly need more marketing. Especially if you will be continuing to give us these kind of editorials. Katie Holmes doesn't look this in real life? It's impossible! But you made it possible. You looked deep and saw the Katie has the face and body of a typical damsel in old time Hollywood. She gives me Marilyn with less sex and more edge. Maybe it's because she's a brunette. Whatever the case, I love it.

And Tom. How did you do it? You made it look not only normal and attractive, but TALL. He gives me Cary Grant so vividly. [Google it!] He looks so debonair and masculine. I can't believe this is the same man who jumped on Oprah's couch! He has obviously matured in something Suri can be proud to call her father.

I applaud you NY times. Keep up the good work. And give Jay-Z & Beyonce a call.

Sincerely,
A new subscriber.
