Karl Lagerfeld has signed an exclusive deal with Dubai Infinity Holdings to design 80 limited edition homes on Isla Moda, the world's first dedicated fashion island, set in the iconic development, The World , which happens to be one of many man-made islands being created in Dubai.

"... The discovery of contemporary mediums of expression has allowed me to pursue my interest in art, beauty, architecture and progressive cultural exchange," said Karl Lagerfeld. "Dubai is a fashion bud on the verge of blossoming into the next fashion hub of the world. The city is alive with culture and rich in personality, making it a perfect place for aesthetic, fashion and design to flourish. Isla Moda has tremendous potential to be the style icon of the future and I intend on driving the island to high style stardom," he added.

I already told ya'll that the Middle East is becoming the new tourist mecca. Now this just puts it over the top.

Baghdad!?!?! The NEW Tourist Mecca??

Forget the rocket attacks, concrete blast walls and lack of a sewer system. Now try to imagine luxury hotels, a shopping center and even condos in the heart of Baghdad.

Will Baghdad soon be the new vacation spot on everyone's list?

Probably.

Some developers plan to create an international village inside the U.S. embassy complex in the Green Zone in Baghdad, Iraq. As reported by ABC News,the U.S. military is pushing a five-year, $5 billion development plan to turn Baghdad's Green Zone into an area with a shopping center, condos and a soccer stadium. Navy Capt. Thomas Karnowski says a deal already has been completed for Marriott to build a hotel in the Green Zone.
