Hi Everyone!!!
QUICK INTRO: My name is Jenelle. I am a teen born and raised in NYC and currently go to school in Buffalo, NY. The main reason i started this blog was to see, after months of contemplating, if a career in journalism is the perfect match for me.
The wondering began in late October, the assurance began after becoming an intern at Ann Taylor Corporation over winter break. As a graduate of the High School of Fashion Industries in NYC, I am positive that my future career must be in the fashion industry. So when I was given the opportunity to intern at Ann Taylor I was excited and grateful. When my first day of work came everything went smoothly but the atmosphere was too quiet for my liking. Everyone who knows me can vouch that I need some noise and excitement in my life to make me a happy person. Not only that, but the cubicles and monotonomy of the place was driving me crazy. Day after day of filing, running to showrooms and sitting in my cubicle sorting through fabric made me question myself. "Is this what I wanted to do????" "Is THIS it?" I kept wondering about if I never had that experience and spent four years of college education to sit behind a cubicle how unhappy and depressed I would've been. I'm not even going to lie, I was soooooo miserable because this 'fab job' didn't turn out to be what I thought it would be. I was so happy that I got to experience the internship so that I wouldn't continue going down the wrong path.
"IS THIS IT???"
"IS THIS REALLY IT???"
I couldn't help but repeat those questions in my head as I continued working.
Then one day after checking my e-mail and receiving a message about a panel meeting for Teen Vogue It Girls, I had an epiphany. MAGAZINES!!! Those close to me know that I am passionate about reading all sorts of things and they also know that I am infatuated with magazines. It's something about the glossy pages and the beautiful pictures that make me so happy. I mean truly, truly happy; the adrenaline rush from picking up a magazine with a striking cover story is like totally out of this world and the articles and advice are just icing on the cake. My magazine subscriptions are endless, they are in prime condition and I NEVER EVER rip a page out of one of MY magazines.... I use someone else's =]. After rereading this I can say that I am a magazine junkie and I am not ashamed.. lol.
The bright light (yes, I'm a bit of a drama queen) showed me that I can mix both of my passions and find the ideal job for me; fashion +magazines... I wondered why I hadn't thought about this before. As I continued to share my epiphany with anyone who would listen, I was advised to begin a fashion blog in order to exercise my writing abilities. Right now I'm really excited about the endless opportunities that this can bring so stay tuned on my road of letters and sentences. I'm sure you'll enjoy! =]
