The festival runs from Friday to Sunday and is a celebration of African-American music and culture [which means alcoholic drinks provided] and is held in New Orleans. This year there is a special tribute to Ms. Patti LaBelle, so big that members from her old group, LaBelle, are going to hit the stage TONIGHT. I can’t wait to see some video from that.
Some of yesterdays performers included Chris Brown and Kanye West. Of course, RiRi was in the building [supporting & performing] and Kanye is still rolling solo. Along with the great performances, seminars will be led by Tyler Perry, Al Sharpton [why?!] and Bill Cobsy, as well as others. Wish I was there to hear what they had to say on black culture. . .
The thing I found most interesting about Day 1, Tyler Perry got a key to New Orleans from Ray Nagin, the mayor. Again, why? He better have made some large “contributions” to the rebuilding effort if you know what I mean. Otherwise, they should have given it to Brad & Angelina. Good for him though. lol
